Snapshot photograph album documenting electric railroad streetcars, other modes of transportation, and leisure activities throughout California in the early 20th century. Includes numerous photographs of streetcars in Oakland, as well as smaller numbers of images of streetcars from cities such as San Francisco, San Jose, Berkeley, Sacramento, Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Diego, Los Angeles and Stockton. Streetcars from Washington (Seattle and Bellingham) and Portland, Oregon are also documented. Many automobiles are also depicted, as well as other types of transportation such as horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, boats and, in at least 2 photographs, a camel-drawn carriage (p.28). Album also includes many photographs documenting the immediate aftermath of the 1906 earthquake and fire in San Francisco. Leisure activities are depicted in numerous, chiefly unidentified locations, including small towns, beaches, mountains, rivers, forests, etc. Major urban areas depicted throughout album include San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland.
